K.I. Samen and Genetics Consolidated join forces for a strong shared future
Press release – Wijhe / Grashoek, the Netherlands, 5 November 2026
K.I. Samen and Genetics Consolidated B.V. have signed a letter of intent for the acquisition of K.I. Samen by Genetics Consolidated. With this strategic step, the Engelen family aims to ensure the long-term continuity of the family business and preserve Bas Engelen’s life’s work for future generations. At the same time, both companies see opportunities to invest together in innovation, strengthen their market position and pursue new growth opportunities. Preserving their own identity and the familiar service provided to customers is central to this.
Stronger together in a changing world
The world of cattle genetics is changing rapidly. International competition is increasing, cattle numbers in Europe are declining and new technologies require ever greater investment. These developments place high demands on companies in terms of innovation, genetic progress and international presence.
K.I. Samen and Genetics Consolidated are two family businesses with a long history in cattle genetics. By bringing together their knowledge, experience and resources, they aim to respond more effectively to market developments.
The combination of genetic programs, reproductive technology, production capacity and international distribution networks offer opportunities to invest together and continue to grow.
“With K.I. Samen, our genetics and reproductive technology gain access to a strong global network. Our ambition is to become the market leader in our home markets of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. With K.I. Samen, we bring progress directly to farmers more quickly.”

Continuing Bas Engelen’s life’s work
K.I. Samen is a family business with a rich history. What Bas Engelen has built over the years still forms the foundation of the company. Entrepreneurship, personal commitment and lasting relationships with dairy farmers are central to this.
“We are proud of what our father has built. It is precisely because we want to preserve his life’s work for future generations that we have consciously chosen to take this step. With Genetics Consolidated, we see opportunities to develop K.I. Samen further, without losing sight of what has always made us strong: entrepreneurship, commitment and personal contact with our customers.”

Preserving identity and familiar service
For customers, maintaining and ensuring the continuity of the familiar service and personal contact are the top priorities. The brands K.I. Samen, Genetics Consolidated, Diamond Genetics, AMS Genetics, A.I. Total, Eurogenes, Freyr K.I. Services and K.I. ProPos will continue to exist. In time, customers will gain access to a wider range of bulls, embryos and services.
Both organizations also want to lay a strong foundation for their employees’ future, with room for sharing knowledge, development and new opportunities.
Two family businesses, one shared ambition
The Engelen, De Vries, Hendrix and Van den Berg families share the belief that cooperation is needed to remain strong in the future in an increasingly international market.
Their shared ambition is to form a strong international group, with a leading position in the Benelux and further opportunities for growth beyond it. They aim to continue investing in genetics, reproductive technology, digitalization and services, while preserving their own identity and commitment to customers.
