Strong risers, promising newcomers and proven genetics
Upward trend for Tobor and Conan
Valor Tobor (Topgear x Commander, aAa 156342) rises for the third time in a row. Conan (Casino x Boss, aAa 435216) also continues his upward trend and can now be considered one of the best Casino sons.
Newcomer Dirk P rf makes an impression
The unique heterozygous polled bull Erfgooier Dirk P rf (Dubai PP x Handy P x Potter P) immediately stands out at his debut. With more than 1,200 litres above expectation, he can easily compete with the Holsteins. In addition, Dirk P rf carries the red factor and the A2A2 beta-casein gene, making him a valuable addition in both black-and-white and red-and-white breeding.

Top performers within the red-and-white segment
Within the red-and-white segment, Drouner Abraxas Red P (Abundant P rf x Born P rf, aAa 513426) and Drouner Potency Red (Powernap x Pat-Rat, aAa 432516) continue to excel. Potency Red combines high kilograms of fat and protein with an outstanding conformation. Following his success at RMV Hardenberg in 2025, the plan is for Potency Red to present a group of second-lactation daughters during the National Red & White Show in Mariënheem on June 6, 2026.

Newcomer Red Ravello: new branch from the Anemoon cow family
Huntje Holstein Red Ravello (Ravel-Red x Riverboy rf, aAa 243) enters the index quietly as a newcomer. Like the full brother of his dam, Red River, he appears to be on a steady upward path towards the top. His daughters combine good stature with a strong forehand, sufficient capacity and wide, slightly sloping rumps. With an inbreeding percentage of less than 7%, Red Ravello is also widely usable as an outcross sire.

Most tested Belgian Blue bulls
Within Belgian Blue, K.I. Samen now has the most tested bulls available. In this index run, two new bulls are added: Moos van de Graashook and Miel van de Graashook, with calving ease scores of 138 and 137 respectively. Remarkably, no fewer than six of the top 10 bulls have a K.I. Samen sire. Semen from one of these bulls, Bruno van de Plashoeve, is still available, even though he is no longer included in the publication.
Practice proves itself
K.I. Samen’s practical breeding approach has shown clear progress over the years and distinguishes itself through a lower inbreeding level in its bulls. “Practice proves itself” has not been K.I. Samen’s slogan for years without reason — and this index run once again confirms it.
