Grashoek Mareno offers a comprehensive ‘SAMEN’ pedigree featuring top K.I. Samen bulls Bill x Maik x Jorryn. Maik and Jorryn are both currently producing numerous cows with yields of 100,000 litres, while various sons by Maik, such as Malki, Repairman and Geronimo rf are making a notable impression on Dutch Holstein breeding.

Longevity embedded in the Desibon cow family

Longevity is firmly embedded in both the male and female lines of Mareno’s ancestry. His 4th dam was a 86-point Cello daughter with lifetime production of 110,000 kg of milk. Her daughter by Lancelot was Desibon 4, Mareno’s great grand dam. She scored 87 points and achieved lifetime production of 70,000 kg of milk with 3.87% protein. However, interest really surged with his grand dam; Jorryn daughter Desibon 6. After being flushed several times, she unfortunately died too young to improve on her production yield of 53,000 kg of milk with 3.88% protein.

Good production index

The 305-day list for 2022-2023 proves the merits of Mareno daughters in practice. He shows good progression from the first to the second list of daughter production figures over 305 days of lactation.

Noting an increase of more than 2,000 kg of milk between the first and second lactation, Mareno daughters make an incredible climb and also have a high protein percentage. Compared with bulls labelled as ‘milk bulls’, Mareno’s score of 9,819 kg of milk places him high in the rankings.
